We asked: "Can you write a poem that captures the essence of Liverpool's year as Capital of Culture?"

And with the title of "Liverpool Peoples Poet" up for grabs, Liverpool answered YES

The competition is now closed, the Awards Ceremony has taken place, the winners have been announced and received their prize.

There are two categories:

  1. under eighteen - Winner: Katarzyna Kaloska
  2. eighteen and over - Winner: Tony O'Neil

the winner in each category has won a prize of £500
